Coventry Memorial Park was packed last Sunday with plenty of people out enjoying the sunshine and the vast amount of cars out on display. Although there was a slight bit of rain when the cars began to make their runs it didn’t last long and soon the day turned back into the sunny day that planners hoped would bring out hundreds of admiring fans.
Outside of the many cars that were showcased from Coventry collection, there was also a tent that promoted the organization’s archive service, which is a service offered by the company. Many people stopped by to tell their stories about their vehicle’s history or stories of their family members who once worked within the motor industry.
One man discussed how his father worked at the Canterbury Street Singer Company as a Turner while another man reminisced about how he used to work for the Humber Company back on Humber Road back in the 1950’s.
A particularly interesting story came from a 92 year old man who talked about his experience as a Chief Designer on Ford Street in the 1950’s at the old Coventry Victor factory. In the next few weeks his story will be told by the company as firsthand accounts are hard to come by these days and are quite interesting to hear and read about.
