If you asked people to name the most famous vehicle manufacturers in the world there is little doubt that the name Honda would be right up there amongst the first they came up with. Since the company was founded by Soichiro Honda back in 1928 the self-named company has risen from its humble origins; as a small car and motorbike repair shop to become one of the most successful automobile companies in the world with the development of its vehicles during that time being the principal reason why it has come so far.

For much of the early part of its history – initially in Japan and then after it expanded into the American market in the late 1950s – Honda concentrated on the development of motorcycles with its ‘C’ model bike going on to become a market leader in terms of both sales and performance level. This vehicle really put the Honda company on the map in Japan in the post-war era, and it was followed by the ‘D’ model bike which proved to be a highly innovative model; featuring developments such as a two-speed transmission and a telescopic fork that had a major impact on motorcycle manufacture as a whole in the following years.

You can find cheap Honda’s on motors.co.uk. There are a huge range of models which can be found so make sure you visit the site to check out models ranging from family, to environmental friendly, to sports!

This was a strong period for Honda, but the development of the company suffered a setback as the Korean War led to an economic slump throughout Japan, and almost put the company out of business. Honda survived this period thanks to its continued ability to innovate with developments such as the Cub motor, which clipped onto bicycles, sustaining it throughout the duration of the war and depression. Following the end of the war Honda worked on a strategy of design innovation coupled with high production numbers that led to the company becoming the leading motorcycle manufacturer in Japan by the mid 1950s. Thus the groundwork was laid for the company to expand into the American market.
