Classic bike lovers and enthusiasts of Italian motorbikes should head down to Silverstone Auctions for the Race Retro Sale where a huge selections of models will go under the hammer.

The star lot is undoubtedly a 1968 Ducati Desmo 350 racing bike, that has been upgraded with such extras as a custom simplified exhaust and a dry clutch conversion. This model has been owned by the vendor for 14 years and expected to fetch £6-8000.

For the first three years that the present vendor had the bike it was raced successfully but it was then retired before it underwent its full restoration 2 years ago. It has since then been kept indoors as a display bike and made occasional appearances at motorcycle displays, picking up several commendable achievements.

Another Italian bike on offer from the same era is a freshly restored 1966 Piaggio Baby Pink Vespa 140 Super as well as a 1968 Piaggio Vespa 150 Sprint. There is also a classic example of Italian styling from the 1970’s in a 1973 Lambretta Li 150 Special, that has only 18,000km from new on the clock.

However, not to be outdone are two homegrown classics in the shape of a pair of magnificent Triumph Speed Twin’s. The 1946 model is a truly exceptional example of the marque with beautiful claret paintwork, lashings of chrome and incredible gold detailing to the tank.

Meanwhile, the 1964 example is finished in the preferred black and silver paint scheme and is presented in its almost original condition.

Looking Stateside and Harley-Davidson enthusiasts will have the chance to bid for a 1974 Ironhead Springer Custom. As expected the chrome work is certainly eye-catching and this bike also runs both kicker and electric starts, an angled forward SU carburettor with velocity stack trumpet and 2″ pipes with fish tails.

For real fun on two wheels then it doesn’t get much better than the Honda Z50R Monkey Bike. A 1980 model is going on sale at the event and is offered in immaculate condition having been fully restored with original components.
