Woman are usually ridiculed for the way they drive but a recent survey shows that men are far worse drivers in Britain than women and are twice as likely to get into an accident as women due to the way they are constantly getting distracted while driving.

The Santander Car Insurance survey says only 5% of women had an accident because of not paying attention while they were driving. While more than 11% of men were willing to admit to being involved in an accident because of a lack of concentration while driving.

Thirty percent of men and 20% of women admitted to having had close calls because of being distracted while changing the car stereo, having a drink or eating. Some drivers even admitted to reading a book, applying make up, shaving, talking on a mobile phone, reading a map, while a few even lost concentration because of kissing someone next to them in the front seat.

Thankfully over 95% said that texting was the most dangerous behavior while driving but close to 20% admitted to texting while driving. Santander Insurance’s Colin Greenhill says that motorists are aware of the risky behaviours and how dangerous they are but many continue to take their eyes off the road to do something other than drive.

The report followed a finding that men have six times as many points on their license as women have. Women have an average of only 0.09 while men have 0.58.
