Surely it’s partly a matter of demographics; it probably couldn’t have happened in, say North Dakota or even New York, and defiantly not Brighton, but it is happening in Florida: buy a used truck and get a free AK-47. Talk about “more bang for your buck” and you have the promotion that has doubled sales since it started a month ago.
Nick Ginetta, the general sales manager for Nation’s Trucks in Sanford, Florida, wanted a really effective promotional offer, and he found it. The dealership has been swamped with buyers, most of whom prefer the gun voucher to the alternative, a rebate cheque for $400, or £250.
They can’t just carry a gun home, of course. Buyers can redeem their voucher at a local gun shop, for an AK-47 or other weapon of their choosing, but they must conform to all the federal and state regulations that include background checks and other precautions. Ginetta is quite pleased with the resulting controversy, as his dealership has now made it into the international news media.
