It seems that most kids have a definite preference when it comes to who drives on the daily school run. Researchers have discovered that 60% of children aged from five up to sixteen much prefer to have their mothers behind the wheel instead of dad.
The children are of the belief that their male parent is definitely more aggressive, drives too fast, and is more inclined to lose his temper while at the wheel. They are also of the opinion that when it comes to road rage fathers are far more likely to lose their temper, if that were not enough, they also consider that he is less considerate to other road users.
According to a poll of 1300 kids for breakdown cover and road safety organisation, GEM Motoring Assist, mum is certainly the children’s favourite when it comes to who drives the family car. But mothers did not quite have it all their own way as children also believe that mothers are more likely to stall the car traffic, and have a much harder time when it comes to parking the family people carrier.
It seems that many kids not only prefer mom to drive them around, but they actually dread being passengers when dad is driving, they point to the unpredictability of men’s moods when driving, and say that dad is far more obsessed with getting there as quickly as possible, rather than as safely as possible.
According to kids 83% of dads drive too fast, over 70% of mums sing or hum while driving, 35% said that their dads shout and or swear at other road users, with 52% claiming that mom talked too much while driving, 66% of children believe that he weaves unnecessarily in an out of traffic in order to get where he is going as quickly as possible.
