Thursday 18th April is the day that many thousands of people across the length and breadth of the country will be on the look out for a very special Pink Car.
Chris Evans the Radio & TV Presenter is the brains behind the FAB1 Million project, through which he intends to bring in no less than £1 million for Breast Cancer Care. This very unusual and very pink Rolls-Royce Ghost will start its journey at the bottom of the country at Lands End and of course will be heading for John O’Groats making multiple stops along the road.
Celebrities lining up to drive the pink princess with Chris, include Brian Cox, Mary Berry and James May.
Sali Gray, organiser of the annual Pink Car Rally, has been watching the campaign gather speed with interest and delight. “We held the 5th annual Pink Car Rally last year and actually travelled from John O’Groats to Land’s End, raising over £16k for the Little Princess Trust charity, which gives ‘real hair’ wigs to children who lose their own hair, primarily through cancer treatments.” So it seems this is not the first time that a Pink Car has been used to raise money for charity.
Sali explained, “Pink cars provoke comments – good and bad – and attract a lot of attention. I am hoping that the Pink Rolls-Royce will encourage people to google Pink Cars and, in turn, find out about our annual rally. Chris’ campaign is amazing. The new FAB1Million Facebook page has already attracted nearly as many ‘likes’ as our Pink Car Rally page has attracted over the last five years. It’s incredible and I’m sure he will achieve and in fact exceed his £1m target.
Sali and her fellow Pinkies are aiming to meet up with FAB1 along its route and are hoping for some very pink photo opportunities. “We can’t be missed – we’ll be wearing as much pink as possible, including our fluorescent Pink Car Rally t.shirts. If possible, we’ll drive along the route following the pink Ghost, for a few miles, to add our support to the campaign.”
It seems that Thursday 18th April is going to be a very pink day indeed.
