Being a name that has, for a very long time, been synonymous with top quality tyres, Michelin were once again the proud sponsors of the 2012 FIA World Endurance and Rally championships which came to a thrilling climax in Greece. Team’s from around the world battled it out for supremacy in the scorching heat reaching break neck speeds and creating plenty of thrills and spills for the spectators who came along to see this most exciting of motor sports.
A great short video has been released that takes you behind the scenes and gives you a unique insight into all the work that goes into making this event one of the most enjoyable and highly anticipated in the world of motor sport. We see the cars flying around the track and the crowds beside themselves with excitement and, of course, the iconic Michelin Man is on hand to add to the proceedings.
The video, although short, is thrilling ride through the competition until we see the winners on the podium, celebrating in the traditional way by spraying the crowd with Champagne. This was more appropriate than ever with the driver at the top of the podium being Frenchman Sebastian Loeb, flanked on either side by Mikko Hirovonen and Jari-Matti Latvala, both from Finland.
This victory saw a double win for Michelin, with the winners of both the Rally Championship and the Endurance Championship proudly boasting Michelin tyres. It is little wonder that Michelin is still considered, even after all these years, the leading name in tyres, and is the number one choice not just for those who race for a living, but also for the everyday driver to wants to be sure that whatever the weather, he is safe hands with his Michelin tyres gripping the roads surface.
